Online Testing with Moodle: FAQ’s
Q. Can I take each test at a different times?
A. Yes, you may take your tests at different times. Once you start taking an individual test you must finish it, but the weekly class and intensive tests are not linked together.
A. All of your objective answers (multiple choice, matching) will be automatically graded upon completion. All of the subjective answers (essay questions) will be graded sometime within a week of the closing times for the test. The score that is shown upon completing a test on the review page is ONLY your objective questions. If you subtract the possible subjective points you can figure out your score on the objective part of the exam.
A. No, they will no longer be proctored by a person, however they are proctored on the computer, meaning that you will not be able to copy and paste information into the test from any notes, or other web pages. In fact, you will not be able to go to anything else on the computer because the exam will then lock you out and you will not be able to get back in.
Q. Are exams still closed note, closed book, closed Bible?
A. Yes, they will remain the same as they always have been, information coming from your memory.
Q. What if there are a bunch of us that need to take the exam at the same time?
A. You actually will have about a week to take the exam. Please check your course and your 2 year calendar for the dates and times. The VLI representative will also be reminding you of the times and dates. Please note that these times are eastern time, so keep that in mind if you are in a different time zone.
Q. Will I have to bring my laptop to class?
A. No, the test can be done at home, at the library, or somewhere quiet that has internet connection. If you do not have any access to the internet, talk with your site coordinator about setting up a time to do the exam at the church if that is available.
Q. How long do I have to take the exams?
A. You have the same amount of time that you would have had at your site. Each exam will be 1 hour and 15 min. long, and there is a timer on the actual exam. So, if you go past that hour and 15 min. you will be locked out and will not be able to continue to take the exam. Remember, this is per exam, not per testing week, so this means that you have 1 hour and 15 min for the weekly exam and 1 hour and 15 min for the intensive exam. You can take the tests in whatever order you want and on different days if you choose. Remember you can still take them back to back in 1 day if you want.
Q. When will I get my grades?
A. You will automatically get the score for the objective portion (the multiple choice and matching) as soon as you submit the exam. The subjective results will be graded during the week following the exam, so that you can then check into the website again a week after the test closes to find out your subjective grade on the exam.
Q. How do I find out my grades?
A. A week after the exam, you can log back into digitalvli.org to see how you did.If you click on the final test score your test will pop back up and you can see what you missed and if the graders left any comments. We will also record all of these grades here in our database. At this time, the only grades you will see on digitalvli.org will be the exam grades only. You will not be able to see your full transcript, how you did on your leadership project, or how many service requirements you still need to turn in.
Q. What if I can’t type? Will I still have enough time?
A. We have gotten a couple of questions about students who type with two fingers looking at the keyboard, and asking if they can make the time limit. Please know that the majority of the test is point and clicking for the multiple choice and matching, so there may be only 5 or 6 questions that would require typing. Some of those questions may even have only one or two word answers, depending on what the question is looking for. Do know that we will not take points off of a test if there are misspellings, unless the misspelling is a wrong answer anyway.
